Daddy Will Never Coming Home this Christmas

We were all so excited everyone in our family,
Getting together to decorates our Christmas tree.
Our tree was decorated with lots of twinkling lights
Different colors of Christmas balls all hung just right.
Popcorn carefully strung together by us all
Caramel apples made by Mom. We were having a ball.
It was Christmas Eve and we couldn’t wait for Daddy to see,
How we had decorated the Christmas tree.

Suddenly there came a loud knock on the front door,
It was very loud one you could not ignore.
Mom opened the front door and a policeman was there.
Why he was at our house we all soon became aware.

There had been an accident you see,
Our daddy had flipped his truck hitting a tree.
The policeman said the front seat was filled with lots of gifts.
The ones he was bringing home to give our little hearts a lift.
A wife and a mother suddenly left all alone,
With five little children to raise now that Daddy was gone
How was our sweet Mother suppose to get by,
None of us really knew what to do
All we could do was just cry.

How do you replace someone as special as this?
How were we supposed to get from him a hug and a kiss?
We don’t really care now about the presents anymore,
Please, God just let our Daddy come walking through the door.
Please have the policeman come back and say,
“I’m sorry I had the wrong house. I’ve had a long day.”
Our Daddy would never be coming home anymore,
We would never again get to see him walk in the front door.
Please don’t wait to show your Dad all of your love,
Just give him a big hug and say, “I love you and I’m so glad, you are the one I get to call Dad.”
